About Us
About Queer Croydon
Founded during Croydon’s year as London Borough of Culture, Queer Croydon began as a project celebrating queer culture, visibility and creativity. As the organisation grew, so too did our understanding of the challenges facing our community.
Today, Queer Croydon is a grassroots community organisation delivering wellbeing programmes, practical support, creative opportunities, community events and advocacy for LGBT+ people across Croydon and South London.
Culture became community and it turned into responsibility.
What We Do
Community Wellbeing
We create opportunities for LGBT+ people to build connections, improve wellbeing and feel part of a supportive community.
Our work includes Community Check-Ins, Creative Wellness sessions, counselling support, LGBT+ Swimming, social events and community gatherings designed to reduce isolation and encourage connection.
Youth & Mentoring
Through our Trans Youth Support & Mentoring programme, skills workshops and creative activities, we support young LGBT+ people to build confidence, develop new skills and connect with peers in a welcoming environment.
Practical Support & Advocacy
We provide practical initiatives that help remove barriers to participation in everyday life, including our Trans Relief Fund, free RADAR Key scheme, signposting, referral support and community safety work.
We also work alongside partners and decision-makers to improve understanding of LGBT+ experiences and strengthen inclusion across Croydon.
Arts, Culture & Heritage
Creativity remains central to our work.
From Their Majesties and producing the first ever South Asian Queer Pride in the UK to heritage projects, exhibitions, performances and workshops, we celebrate LGBT+ creativity, history and culture while creating opportunities for local artists and communities to be seen and heard.
Partnerships & Community Development
We work collaboratively with local and national partners including Croydon Council, Croydon Libraries, Stanley Arts, Better, NHS services, community organisations and cultural institutions.
Together, we develop projects, improve access to services and create new opportunities for LGBT+ people across the borough.

Queer Croydon is led by a voluntary Executive Committee of LGBT+ residents, artists, activists and community organisers.

Whether someone joins us for a swimming session, attends a Community Check-In, accesses counselling, receives a RADAR Key, takes part in a workshop, performs or gets swept in the conga at Their Majesties, our aim is simple:

• To combat isolation and foster self-esteem, confidence, and wellbeing through creativity and the power of community.
• To ensure every member of our community feels seen, heard, and informed — knowing their rights, their worth, and how to navigate the world with pride.
