Rooted Words: Nature & Self

A creative writing workshop.

This workshop is all about connection – to nature, to yourself and to each other. In this beginner-friendly session, you’ll explore creative writing as a way to reflect, express and feel more grounded.

Using nature as a starting point, we’ll work with gentle prompts that invite you to notice, imagine and connect – whether that’s thinking about landscapes, seasons, growth, cycles or your own sense of belonging. You don’t need to be “good” at writing – this space is about exploration, not perfection.

The session is designed to feel calm, welcoming and queer-affirming, with space to write individually and, if you’d like, share within the group. We’ll explore how creativity can help us make sense of ourselves and the world around us, and how storytelling can be a way of being seen and understood.

Whether you write a few lines or a full piece, this is a space to slow down, reflect and try something new. You’re welcome to bring your thoughts, your feelings and your curiosity.

This workshop is for you if:

• You’re curious about creative writing but don’t know where to start
• You want a calm, supportive and queer-affirming creative space
• You’re interested in exploring identity, nature and connection through words

What to bring:

• A notebook or something to write on
• A pen or pencil
• Yourself – no experience needed
• Optional: something from nature or a small object that inspires you
