Queer Croydon Launch

Queer Croydon’s new website launches on 27th October 2023 as part our ongoing commitment to promote queer events and stories. The website will feature a range of in-depth articles focusing on queer artists from Croydon and further afield.

The website will also have a calendar of queer arts events from across the borough and beyond – if you would like to promote your own event you can upload it via the handy self-submission form.

In the first main feature Queer Croydon speaks to Sabiyha, a British-Guyanese musician and hot new musical sensation. She talks about her musical influences, her childhood growing up in Croydon and her fond memories of browsing Surrey Street market with her mum.

Alongside the news articles and the events listing, Queer Croydon have teamed up with a brilliant range of partners to provide links to a whole array of services for queer people. The services page ranges across heath care, youth services, queer-friendly religious organisations, housing support, reading groups and much more.

Queer Croydon is brought to you by a voluntary collective of queer artists and activists who make up the Queer Arts Advisory Group. They meet monthly to discuss how better to promote queer arts and queer stories. With initial funding from Arts Council England’s Place Partnership Fund and additional support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation they are trying to build a legacy for the future with an expanding programme of events, alongside a growing digital platform for queer stories.

If you want to know a bit more about the team behind Queer Croydon and the shared vision then check out the About Us page on the website.
